INK
BORN

— whatever I write in ink, stays true. tested twice. don't test a third time.

Woke up on cold tile. No windows. One terminal humming on a desk that shouldn't have power. I typed “door open” as a joke. The lock clicked.

A cozy horror game about bending reality. Ink a sentence and the room obeys — getting out takes creativity and intuition: dig out its secrets, find the way out.

door: LOCKED. it knows you're here.
INKBORN — the desk where it started
the desk. the lamp. the thing I shouldn't have typed. smells like rain.
room-07 was silent until I wrote over it · the soap in the bathroom is not soap · keep one battery spare · trust the pull in your gut · rewrite your fate, one word at a time · room-07 was silent until I wrote over it ·

p.2 — what happened

Woke up where the walls sweat.

No dramatic intro. Tile, damp, a buzzing terminal. The file on screen described the room I was standing in — word for word. Dark. Locked. Silent.

I changed one word and the ██████ changed with it. I'm not writing which word first. You'll do it wrong.

The halls after that don't behave. Some rooms are kind: a fire, rain on glass. Some lean wrong and you feel it behind your teeth before you see anything. I started marking the kind ones on the back of my hand.

  • § 01 — there is more than one way out of every room. The green lever taught me that.
  • § 02 — everything has something to say if you look twice. Even the soap.
  • § 03 — if your gut pulls, follow it. Sanity goes fast down here.

P.S. if you find my spare battery, keep it. you'll need it.

— the long hall. the fridge hums. leave it humming.

p.3 — method, as I understand it

Three steps. Then improvise.

STEP 01

Read the room like a draft

Check the terminal text against what's actually there. Door says wooden [locked]? The brackets are the lie. Note the exact wording.

door: wooden [locked]

STEP 02

Cross it out in ink

One word at a time. Locked → open. Dark → lit. Don't get clever on your first night. Small edits hold better.

door = “open”

STEP 03

Live with what you wrote

Heavy box through the door works. So does the side window nobody mentions. Pick either — the ink won't judge. The Komplex remembers which you picked.

result: yours

Leveling, no fighting. Three quiet skills go up as you poke around. Good for people who hate combat but like dread.

Timeline on the wall. I kept a tally per room so I'd know what I skipped. Bathroom took me two days. Soap. That's all I'll say.

Comfort is a resource. Fire, rain, a working lamp. Sit a minute. Your head clears. Then keep moving.

— east wing. don't linger.

p.4 — try it here, small room, low stakes

The terminal. Go on, type.

Type help if you get stuck. Suggested order: read terminal → turn on light → open door → go north.

Cold open in room-07: the hum, the terminal, the first rewritten word. If the front page didn't sell you, these forty-four seconds will. Watch the room change its mind.

Inkborn Gameplay

A full loop, uncut: read the terminal, wash the dark away, pick a door, pick a direction. Watch for the battery habit — you'll need it where this clip ends.

p.7 — words we use down here

Margin lexicon.

Copied from the back of my hand. Spelling is the least of our problems.

ink — n.

Whatever's wet on the terminal. Cross a word out and the room obeys. Mostly.

sanity — n.

The flame. Fire and rain feed it. Darkness spends it. Spend wisely.

battery — n.

Small, hoarded, never enough. The terminal eats them. Keep one spare. Always.

soap — n.

Bathroom. Not soap. That is the whole entry. You'll see.

lever — n.

Green means go. There are two. Pulling both means 100%. Pull both.

the pull — n.

The tug behind your teeth when a room leans wrong. Follow it. It's never wrong about danger, only about timing.

p.8 — specs, plainly

Needs little. Gives a lot.

Minimum: Win 7 64-bit, i3-2100, 4GB RAM, Intel HD 3000, 200MB. It ran on my tired laptop.

Better with: Win 10, i5, 8GB, GTX 660, 1GB free.

Extras: single-player, achievements, cloud saves, controller + keyboard, subtitles. Windows only — no browser build.

Made by an independent team. Unity. Adventure / puzzle / interactive fiction. Full release: coming soon, demo live now.

Notes left by others.

“I never leave comments. This one got me. That bathroom, though.”— gamer691223
“Creepy and cozy at the same time? Somehow, yes.”— Proffy

“The word puzzles got me, and that timeline overview helps. The soap hint is real.”— Str3

For the thorough.

From the workbench.

Pinned notes. No links, just news.

p.11 — asked often, answered once

Before you ask.

How scary are we talking?

No jumpscare reel. It's the slow kind — a hallway that feels wrong before anything happens. Headphones help. So does pausing to breathe.

How long is the demo?

One careful evening. Two if you 100% every room like I tried. The bathroom alone took me two days.

Windows only, really?

Really. The demo itself is a Windows download — the little terminal on this page is just a toy I taped here. Small file, runs on tired laptops.

I got eaten. Is that normal?

Completely. Dying is how the Komplex teaches. The right-hand dark took me three times before I learned. Take the left.

Can I rewrite my fate?

That's the whole game. Pick a word, cross it out, live with what you write. The Komplex keeps the receipts.

What do I type first?

Read the terminal first — always. Then small words. Locked → open is the classic for a reason.

— the kind rooms. sit a minute. then keep moving.

last page — exit

If you go in, leave a mark.
